Charming Lodging Since 1734

The original Bird-in-Hand Inn
The origin of our historic Inn, built in 1734, is responsible for the naming of our unique town, Bird-in-Hand (current population just 300). The inn is located on the north side of Route 340 - the Old Philadelphia Pike and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County wrote the following about the Inn in a survey prepared in June, 1983: The exterior of this three-story, five bay facade, with turned Tuscan Order Columns and fretwork railings, is very unusual. Indeed this building may be one of the few nineteenth century inns in the context of a small town in Lancaster County, which survives with a high degree of integrity.
