Bird-in-Hand Village Inn Two-Night Amish Farm-to-Fork Getaway

Foodies, take heed!  This is an intimate, multi-sensory opportunity to experience farm-to-fork from the source.  Our co-owner John Smucker – a Mennonite farmer and foodie in his own right – will introduce a small group of Guests to some of his Amish neighbors and give you a chance to see, touch, smell and taste their foods.  Learn how these family farmers locally produce their better tasting, more wholesome harvest.  These unforgettable connections will be capped off by a very special lunch.

Tuesday Tour Schedule
9 am - Welcome by Bird-in-Hand co-owner John Smucker, your personal tour guide, in the Desmond House conversation room
9:20 am - Visit Christ Miller’s Natual Health Food Store, next door to his organic family farm
10 am - Visit the farm of Leroy Miller, an Amish farmily farmer raising grass-fed meats, Amish cheeses, poultry, vegetable and dairy products
10:30 am - Visit the farm of Ephraim Huyard, an Amish family farmer who brings wagons full of fresh sugar peas and grape tomatoes to Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord
11:15 am - Visit Oasis of Bird-in-Hand, a “Real Live Food” cooperative of Amish farmers
12:30 pm - Grown Local Luncheon in the Desmond House conversation room

The Farm-to-Fork Getaway includes two nights’ stay in a standard room or junior suite (double occupancy, based on limited availability; upgrade to a large suite for $50 or to a grand suite for $100), the Foodie Farm Experience and Grown Local Luncheon, a welcome market basket, two deluxe continental breakfasts and a dinner for two at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord.  Add Sunday night stay, May 6 or June 10 for just $75 extra.
