Run, Ride & Soar Weekend


Be a part of a weekend that offers athletes an opportunity to experience Lancaster County’s famous farmlands in amazing ways.  Featured in Runner’s World, runners can take to the beautiful country roads around Bird-in-Hand in a 13.1 half marathon and 5k.  Bicyclists have their choice of 12, 23 and 62 mile metric century rides around the pastoral countryside.  And hot air balloon enthusiasts get a chance to see the world famous region from the air.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 7,8 and 9, Run, Ride & Soar Weekend will bring together this selection of events:

Friday, September 7
5-8 pm:  Pre-race Amish pasta party (athletes and spectators welcome)
6:15 pm:  Amish Country Hot Air Balloon Launch
6:15 pm:  Bird-in-Hand Kid’s Fun Run, benefiting the Bird-in-Hand Fire Company
6:30 pm: Bird-in-Hand 5k, benefiting the Bird-in-Hand Fire Company
7:30-9 pm: Bonfire & S’more Party

Saturday, September 8
7:15 am:  Amish Country Hot Air Balloon Launch
7-10 am:  Amish Country Hot Air Balloon Fest
7:30 am: Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon, benefiting the Bird-in-Hand Fire Company
8 am-2 pm: Amish Country Classic Bike Rides (12, 23 and 62 mile metric century), benefitting the Paradise Rotary Club and its charities
5:45 pm: Amish Country Bike & Balloon Race Launch (raindate Sunday at 5:45 pm)

Sunday, September 9
7 am:  Amish Country Hot Air Balloon Fest

Proceeds from the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon benefit the Bird-in-Hand Volunteer Fire Company.  Proceeds from the Paradise Rotary Amish Country Classic Bike Rides help support their charities.
