Bird-in-Hand Family Inn
In 1968 the Smucker Family built a 30 unit Motel on the family homestead. Without any experience in the hospitality business, it was an uncertain time. With an emphasis on applying the golden rule to their Guests and the growth of tourism in Lancaster County the Inn was a success. The inn includes indoor/outdoor pools, free tour of the farmlands for each Guests, tennis courts, and acres of lawn. Today the Inn has 125 units.
Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord
In 1970, the Smuckers built a 145 seat restaurant adjoining the Motel. The Restaurant was built to provide traditional Lancaster County food, and plenty of it, to tourists and local people at affordable prices. In February of 2005, the Restaurant completed a significant expansion and renovation, doubling the dining room seating capacity and adding new banquet rooms and a Grand Smorgasbord. Both the Grand Smorgasbord and the menu feature fresh PA Dutch foods made from many of the Smucker’s own family recipes. Today, the dining room seats 350 Guests and the meeting and conference facilites accommodate up to 300 Guests.
Bird-in-Hand Bakery
Since the Restaurant opened in 1970, the Smuckers have been baking fresh homemade baked goods to compliment the Pennyslvania Dutch menu in the Restaurant. In 1984, due to an increase in demand, the Smuckers built a new Bakery one block up the street in Bird-in-Hand. The Bakery features homemade PA Dutch Baked Goods, with many of the recipes coming from Grandma Smucker’s kitchen. Specialties include Red Velvet Cake, Shoofly Pie, Apple Dumplings, Pumpkin Pie, Whoopie Pies and soft Potato Rolls.
Ashton’s at Greenfield
Located next to the Hampton Inn on Greenfield Rd., Lancaster at the Greenfield Corporate Center. We feature breakfast and coffee drinks, frozen lattes and smoothies, as well as lunch specialties. Our menu is filled with specialty sandwiches as well as our original salad, soup, and hot food bar. We also offer Bird-in-Hand’s fresh seasonal baked goods. Catering is available so call us at 396-9230 for your next event. Ashton’s at Greenfield is a partnership with Lynne Ashton and the Bird-in-Hand Corporation.
Other Motels and Inns
The Smuckers also operate four additional lodging properties and a campground. All lodging properties include a complimentary tour of the Amish farmlands for each Guest.
Amish Country Motel
Located in the middle of the Amish farmlands just east of Bird-in-Hand, this 25 unit Motel features an outdoor pool and great views of the surrounding farmlands.
Mill Stream Country Inn
This 52 unit Inn is located in Smoketown, just 1.5 miles west of Bird-in-Hand. It features a complimentary continental-plus breakfast, outdoor pool and acres of lawn to unwind by the lazy mill stream.
Travelers Rest Motel
Located in the Village of Intercourse in Lancaster County, this Motel features 40 units and a complimentary continental-plus breakfast each morning for the Guests.
Bird-in-Hand Village Inn & Suites
Originally built in 1735, the Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This upscale country Inn features 24 rooms, each with private bath, and includes a complimentary continental-plus breakfast each morning.
Country Acres Campground
Located along Rt. 30 in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Country Acres Campground, is just 3 miles from Bird-in-Hand. The campground features a swimming pool, full hookup sites, tenting area, cabins and modern bathhouse.
